For us itz only 375 k.m, Since Childhood , travelling has always been one of my hobbies. We planned to take a three day tour to Shimoga , the Cultural Capital of Karnataka – “The Jog Falls”.
Jog Falls – situated on the boarders of Shimoga and North Kanara-100 k.ms from shimoga city. We took N.H 4 to reach the Cultural Capital. Itz effect is greatly heightened by the wild and beautiful region around which is covered with a wealth of luxuriant Vegetation. Before leaving Bangalore, we did some research on the recent history and climate of shimoga, that we were going to visit. Our first destination was, “The Sakrebailu Elephant Camp”.. itz a forest camp for captive elephants , situated 14k.m from shimoga- on Shimoga Thirtahalli road.itz Considered as best camp for elephant Training. Here timings from 08:30a.m to 11:30a.m. Entry fee Rs-30.00 for Indians and Rs-100.00 for Foreigners.
After that we turned our , 2.2L Varicor 400 Engine , towards “The Tyavarekoppa Lion and Tiger Reserve” –located 10k.m distance from shimoga ,on the shimoga – Sagar Road, spread over 200 hectares of Land. The main attraction of the Tyavarekoppa Lion and Tiger Reserve are the wild animals that can be seen roaming inside the reserve. The place also has a small zoo and a well-maintained children’s park where the kids can have a nice time.
Finally . we moved our Varicor 400 Engine to Gerusoppaa falls (Jog Falls) , is the highest untiered waterfalls in India as it drops directly and does not stream on to the rocks. Four cascades, known as Raja, Rani, Rover and Rocket merge to form the huge waterfall on the Sharavathi river. The falls are locally known as Geruoppe Falls, Gersoppa Falls and Jogada Gundi. Jog itself is a Kannada word, which means falls. Here, Watkins Platform is one of the more popular points to view the falls. You can also get a scenic view of the falls from the rock outcrop near Bombay Bungalow. The area near the falls is also ideal for trekking. Swarna Nadi riverbank, the Sharavathi valley and the lush green forest around the waterfalls are just as scenic.
Guyz.. turn on your engines… explore the historic beauties. It helps u to breathe some fresh air..or get relaxed .
